The castle is not open to the public...the walking trails in the woods are very nice. The grounds are beautiful. Picnic tables, rest room, screened houses with picnic tables. Great shelters. Great place to visit..no cost!
Nice trail through the woods and along the lake to reach the castle. Great views and plenty of picnic tables to relax once you arrive. Very nice!
The experience here was better as a nature reserve (hiking trails nearby, etc.) than visiting the castle. The trails are nice and well-maintained. The castle was closed to visitors and there's no longer a museum like there was a number of years ago. The buildings are in rough shape on the property, but the small garden is nice to look at. It's a good place to sit in the grass and have a picnic. There is one port-o-potty available if needed on the property.
Had a good time with new ebike. Only time I had a problem was because of a cowboy & cowgirl walking towards me so I did the natural thing & went to right-side of the wide trail and they went left. Causing me to almost go off trail into the lake. Everyone else was courteous.
The castle is closed to the public but you can walk around the grounds. Some good hiking trails
definitely a cool little place to catch some quiet time. a nice place for a picnic
We didn't enter the castle 🏰 but we did see a suit of armor in the window. There wasn't a Frenchman at the top 🔝 of the castle yelling at us saying "Your mother was a hamster 🐹 and your father smells of elderberries!".
I enjoyed exploring the immediate grounds surrounding the castle. They are well maintained. The Fall foliage compliments the small gardens. A Japanese Maple tree grows on the grounds.
My friend said she used to bring her kids here. The kids would run down the hill for fun.
The section with the trails said it was closed for the season, but, people were walking on them. Dogs allowed but must be leashed.
There was a Native American grinding stone 🪨 that I found interesting. A Cucumber 🥒 Magnolia tree is on the property as well. Alert Treebeard!
I would like to return at a time when the inside is open. It's worth a visit. A small parking 🅿️ area when the season is closed 🔒. One road in, one road out.
Great place for a walk around the lake.
